Poplar-bud salve
- Makes: ± 120 ml
- Time: 1 hr + 2–4 weeks infusing
- From: Hybrid black poplar
Ingredients
- 1 cup poplar buds (± 50 g)
- 150 ml olive oil
- 15 g beeswax
Method
- Leave the buds on kitchen paper for a day so that no moisture remains on them.
- Put them in a clean, dry glass jar and pour over the oil until they are well covered.
- Stand the jar somewhere warm for 2 to 4 weeks, for instance next to a radiator, and shake it daily. If you are in a hurry, warm the jar in a bain-marie over a low heat for 2 hours.
- Strain the oil through a cloth.
- Warm 100 ml of the oil with the beeswax in a bain-marie until the wax has melted.
- Pour into small jars and let them cool uncovered before closing.
Storing: Keeps for a year in a cool, dark place. Use the rest of the oil as a skin oil.
