Field forget-me-not: when to prune it?
In July–August, after the seed has fallen, pull up the spent plants.
Field forget-me-not: how to prune it?
- Leave the plants until most calyces are brown and the seeds have dropped.
- Then pull them up, roots and all; shake them first over the spot where you want plants next year.
- Clear plants badly affected by powdery mildew a little earlier.
- Real pruning is not needed.
How much to cut, and how often?
- One pruning period a year: July–August.
What does it mean for wildlife?
- As a native plant, it feeds more insects than a non-native species.
