Dropwort: when to prune it?
Cut off the faded flower stems in August and clear the old, withered leaves in March.
Dropwort: how to prune it?
- After flowering, cut the flower stems just above the leaf rosette.
- If you want it to self-seed, leave a few sprays until the seed has turned brown.
- In March, gently pull dead leaves out of the rosette before the new leaves appear.
How much to cut, and how often?
- There are 2 pruning periods a year: March and August. You don’t have to prune in every one.
What does it mean for wildlife?
- Dropwort flowers in June–July, when it attracts bees.
- As a native plant, it feeds more insects than a non-native species.
