Rose grape: when and how to prune
Medinilla magnifica
Rose grape is best pruned in August.

Rose grape: when to prune it?
Prune lightly after flowering, around August. Otherwise it is not pruned.
What else to prune in those months? August
Rose grape: how to prune it?
- Cut faded flower clusters back to just above the next two leaves.
- Shorten long, bare or lopsided branches by about a third, just above a pair of leaves.
- Remove dead or withered leaves and shoots.
- Use healthy cut tips as cuttings if you wish.
How much to cut, and how often?
- One pruning period a year: August.
What does it mean for wildlife?
- A houseplant lives indoors, so wildlife hardly notices the pruning. Healthy clippings can go on the compost.
Caution: Do not prune just before or during flowering, or in winter: you would cut off the flower buds to come.
