Nemesia: when to prune it?
From late June to mid-July, as soon as the first flush is over; an annual is not otherwise pruned.
What else to prune in those months? July
Nemesia: how to prune it?
- Cut the whole plant back by about half, just above a few healthy leaves.
- Then water and give a little flower feed so that new shoots grow quickly.
- Afterwards remove spent flowers regularly.
- Pull the plant up in autumn and tidy the bed.
How much to cut, and how often?
- One pruning period a year: July.
What does it mean for wildlife?
- Nemesia flowers in June–September, when it attracts bees.
- If pruning falls during flowering, wait until it is over or leave part of the plant to flower, so bees and butterflies still benefit.
