What else to prune in those months? March · April · May · June · July · August
Arrowhead plant: how to prune it?
- Cut long stems back to just above a node; new shoots grow from there and the plant fills out.
- Trim regularly if you want to keep the young, arrow-shaped leaves.
- Remove yellow or damaged leaves at the base of the leaf stalk.
- Use the trimmed stems as cuttings.
How much to cut, and how often?
- One pruning period a year: March–August.
What does it mean for wildlife?
- A houseplant lives indoors, so wildlife hardly notices the pruning. Healthy clippings can go on the compost.
Caution: Wear gloves when pruning and do not touch your eyes: the milky sap irritates skin, eyes and mouth. Arrowhead plant is poisonous: wear gloves and keep clippings away from children, pets and livestock.
