Southernwood sachets for the wardrobe

  • Makes: 4 sachets
  • Time: 15 min + 1 to 2 weeks drying
  • From: Southernwood

Ingredients

  • 4 small handfuls of dried southernwood leaves
  • 1 small handful of dried lavender flowers (optional)
  • 4 cotton or linen bags (about 10 × 15 cm)
  • ribbon or string

Method

  1. Leave the sprigs to dry for 1 to 2 weeks until crisp, then strip off the leaves.
  2. Crumble the leaves lightly between your hands and mix with the lavender.
  3. Fill the bags three-quarters full and tie them firmly closed.
  4. Hang them on a coat hanger or tuck them between woollen jumpers and blankets. Knead them every few weeks to refresh the scent.

Storing: They stay fragrant for six months to a year. Then refill them; the old leaves can go on the compost heap.
