French lavender sachets

Ingredients

  • 3 small handfuls of dried French lavender heads
  • the dried peel of 1 unwaxed orange (optional)
  • 4 small cotton or linen bags (± 10 × 15 cm)
  • ribbon or string

Method

  1. Leave the heads to dry for 1 to 2 weeks until they are crisp. Strip off the flowers or crumble the heads lightly between your fingers; the flags can go in too.
  2. Cut the dried orange peel into small pieces and mix it with the lavender.
  3. Fill the bags three-quarters full and tie them tightly with the ribbon.
  4. Put them in the wardrobe, among the linen or in a shoe cupboard, or hang them on a coat hanger. Squeeze them every few weeks to refresh the scent.

Storing: They stay fragrant for six months to a year. Then replace the filling; the old flowers can go on the compost heap.
