Jerusalem cherry: how to prune it?
- Cut all the branches back by half or a third, just above a node.
- Remove dead, weak and crossing twigs.
- Then repot it in fresh compost and water.
- Use clean scissors.
How much to cut, and how often?
- One pruning period a year: March.
What does it mean for wildlife?
- A houseplant lives indoors, so wildlife hardly notices the pruning. Healthy clippings can go on the compost.
Caution: Wear gloves and wash your hands after pruning: all parts of the plant are poisonous.
