Peach-leaved bellflower: when to prune it?
No real pruning is needed. From June to August remove the spent bells, and after the last flowers the flower stems.
Peach-leaved bellflower: how to prune it?
- Snip off each spent bell just below the flower with small scissors.
- Once a whole stem has finished, cut it back to the leaf rosette.
- At the end of summer, leave a few stems with seed capsules if you want seedlings.
How much to cut, and how often?
- One pruning period a year: June–August.
What does it mean for wildlife?
- Peach-leaved bellflower flowers in June–August, when it attracts bees.
- If pruning falls during flowering, wait until it is over or leave part of the plant to flower, so bees and butterflies still benefit.
