Chilean guava with quince (murta con membrillo)
- Makes: 4 people
- Time: 1 hr 15 min
- From: Chilean guava
Ingredients
- 1 large quince (± 400 g)
- 150 g Chilean guava berries
- 120 g sugar
- 400 ml water
Method
- Rub the down off the quince, peel it, cut it into quarters and remove the hard core. Cut each quarter into three wedges.
- Bring the water and sugar to the boil, add the quince and simmer gently for 40 to 50 minutes with the lid half on, until the wedges are tender.
- Rinse the berries, remove the stalks and add them for the last 10 minutes: they should stay whole.
- Leave to cool in the syrup and serve cold as a dessert, perhaps with a little yoghurt or vanilla ice cream.
Storing: A week in the fridge in a closed jar.
