Grey club-rush: when to prune it?

What else to prune in those months? March · June · July · August
Grey club-rush: how to prune it?
- In March cut all old, brown stems off just above the water surface.
- On the variegated form, cut green stems off as low as possible as soon as you see them.
- Remove broken stems that hang in the water whenever you see them.
How much to cut, and how often?
- There are 2 pruning periods a year: March and June–August. You don’t have to prune in every one.
What does it mean for wildlife?
- As a native plant, it feeds more insects than a non-native species.
Caution: Do not leave the spring cut until the new stems are already tall: you will easily damage them.
