Rice with a sprig of curry plant

Ingredients

  • 300 g basmati rice
  • 450 ml water or vegetable stock
  • 1 sprig of curry plant, about 10 cm
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • salt

Method

  1. Rinse the rice in a sieve under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Bring the rice to the boil with the water or stock, the butter, a pinch of salt and the curry plant sprig, in a pan with a tight-fitting lid.
  3. Turn the heat down low and cook for 12 minutes with the lid on.
  4. Take the pan off the heat and leave to stand for another 5 minutes without lifting the lid.
  5. Remove the sprig, fluff up the rice with a fork and serve with fish, chicken or vegetables.

Storing: Eat the rice the same day. Cool leftovers quickly, keep them in the fridge for no more than a day and reheat until piping hot.
