Liqueur · From Bladwijzer
Peppermint liqueur
- Makes: ± 750 ml
- Time: 15 min + 2 weeks steeping
- From: Peppermint
Ingredients
- 40 g fresh peppermint leaves
- 500 ml vodka or grain spirit (40 %)
- 200 g sugar
- 200 ml water
Method
- Rinse the leaves, pat them dry and bruise them lightly.
- Put them in a glass jar with the vodka, close and leave to steep for 1 to 2 weeks in a dark place, shaking now and then. Taste after a week: steeping too long makes the liqueur bitter.
- Boil the water and sugar to a clear syrup and leave to cool.
- Strain out the mint, mix with the syrup and pour into a clean bottle.
Storing: A year in a cool, dark place. The colour fades from green to golden brown; the taste stays.
